Baronia de Rialb
La Baronía de Rialb is a group of small villages, chalets and houses arround the Rialb Valley. It is a natural environment, one of the biggest and less inhabited in the region of la Noguera, and It stands out due to its great number of historical monuments from the 11th and 12th century. It has a total amount of 23 churches and different hermitages surrounded by a natural and agricultural landscape, where there are few traces of human existence. It is an area with a natural richness and diversity, respectfull of its history; the history of all of us.
Places of interest: The romanesque monastery of Santa Maria de Gualter, bombarded during the Spanish Civil War; The church of Santa María de Palau de Rialb, newly restored; Sant Serni de Bellfort, Sant Esteve de Pallerols, Sant Girvés de la Torre, Sant Iscle and El Dolmen de Sols de Rius, from the prehistoric age.
